Playing Pool the Professional Way

Striking a pool ball without performing a foul would be an achievement to those who are just beginning to learn how to play. But to consistently strike one ball at a time and making the last, most important ball hit a hole, is another thing. Though, it need not take a professional to execute something like that. Even if you're a 12 year old, it's possible to play like a pro. All it takes is a lot of self-esteem, patience and practice.

Everyone can be a professional. They just need to act and manifest as one.

First, you have to pick a cue stick that's not too heavy or too light. Remember that choosing a cue that doesn't feel comfortable in both your hands and arms can contribute greatly on how you make a particular shot.

Next, develop positions that are accurate and at the same time balanced. This will keep you from losing your stance. A good form can predict if you'll get a wrong or right shot. It eases your body from tension and concentrates the needed strength in your arms.

Build a constant connection between you, the cue balls, your cue and the targeted object ball. All of these must communicate. Control the thrust and make sure that the tip of your cue is aimed at the center of the cue ball.

Constantly chalk the cue tip for a better strike and to prevent your cue from slipping when aiming to strike at the side of the cue ball. Keep in mind to avoid chalking over the cloth.

Every shot is equally important. One shot can lead you to another, and another, and another which can finally take you to the final shot that could end the game and proclaim you as the winner for that particular round.

To make your game more meaningful, find an opponent. This will help you evaluate how far you've come. Aside from a challenge and added experience, playing with somebody else can help you build self-confidence and teach you to develop tricks and additional techniques.

Always emphasize respect for every opponent. They are worthy enough to be called as one. Either bad or good, you should have the proper attitude to respect how your opponent plays. A good attitude can take you far. It is not a matter of winning, but hitting and shooting the right ball in one of the 6 pockets.
