Pool: What the game is all about

It's all about finding the right angles and the right holes to shoot into, a game of twists and tricks from any side of the rectangular table. That's pocket billiards. Commonly known as pool, pocket billiards is a game played on a table with green cloth or matting. This table consists of 6 holes or pockets. Pool is a general term to address several games underneath its bracket.



The Equipments



Balls - measures 2.2 inches up to 2.3 inches relating to its diameter. With regards to the standardized version, there will always be one white cue ball and 15 object balls which are solid or striped. The color of the balls will depend on the country that hosts the event or tournament.

Table - a conventional billiard table is usually covered with a green cloth oftentimes made of pure wool. Rectangular in shape, the table is composed of 6 holes, and its length would measure twice based on its diameter.

Cues - this is a piece of stick that is used to initiate a strike on the white cue ball. There are two typical types of cue sticks, the one-piece is one solid stick, as the name implies. The two-piece can be separated into two pieces with a joint holding them as a set.



The Game



If playing an 8-ball game, once all 15 balls are placed properly into the rack and the cue ball positioned in front of the breaker, the play will begin. A sport usually comprising of 2 players, the 1st player would have the opportunity to get hold of the entire match by breaking the object balls shooting all the balls into the pockets. The breaker is determined to be chosen by the authority of the game, by lagging, or coin flipping.



The Tip



The most important thing to remember when playing pool is to keep constant contact with the cue ball. No matter how hard a shot seems to be, it will all work out as long as you hit the white ball in the proper manner.



The Goal



Like in all tournaments, the only goal is winning. And with this kind of play, the only time a contestant can be declared a winner if he hits the 8 ball legally with his entire ball groups out of the table and into the pockets, considering that he plays for the 8-ball category. A play can also win through an opponents default by committing 3 fouls.
