Pros and Cons of Being a Pool Player

Yes, being in some sort of sport can have its ups and downs. Especially with a sport like this, anything can happen. Being an active sport enthusiast can turn out good and sometimes extremely bad. It affects the factors and people revolving around you. Friends, family, studies, school and particularly you can be struck by its good and bad effects.

What are the pros?

Playing pool can be a very creative game. It can help you stimulate your mind into thinking of different techniques and perform specific shots that could leave your opposing team at an awe.
Good source of relaxation. This type of sports isn't stressful. In fact, it eases away tension within your body after a rough and very tiring day. Unlike basketball wherein you have to exert so much perspiration and your remaining energy, pool is more of the walk-in-the-park kind of sport.
Strategies get better and bolder. You could evaluate yourself and learn how to right the wrong shots.
Joined with a couple of friends and a good bottle of your favorite beer, playing pool can be a hang out. It helps you have a good time with the people around you and talk about anything that happened that day. You could discuss about how horrible you're day ended or how it went well. A meaningful conversation can blend nicely with a light sport.

What are the cons?

Well, for one, pool is a gamble. A lot of pocket billiard players consider pool as a good source of easy money. They bet on themselves or someone else. If you are an onlooker, you might as well bet on someone whom you know can hit the jackpot. It's a good thing if you win, but what if you don't? That's when problem arises.
For those high school and college students who are hooked on this sport, they tend to compromise their studies for the sake of playing the game. Plus, using up all their lunch money and allowances on betting.
You could get into so much trouble especially if you're playing with guys who look like they've just got out of prison or escaped from it. You'll end up seeing yourself in a hospital bed if you are lucky.
Assuming you are a beginner. And you don't know a speck about handling a cue. Then you take a shot. With an inappropriate, strong, rough force, you suddenly break the cue into two. Definitely, you have to pay for that.
