Pool, Recovering a Worn Out Table

If playing pool or pocket billiards is your hobby, investing in a pool table is a good idea. But for those of you who already have an old pool table, you can still recover it. Playing on a worn out table will not give you a great game and so you need to exert some efforts to recover it.

How can you do it? Well, it's not really difficult and you can even do it yourself. You can bring life once again to your game room by simply replacing the felt on your pool table. That way, you can easily relieve your table of scuff marks, stains, and tears. You don't really have to stick with the green color because the felt is also available in other shades such as burgundy, gold, or blue. In fact, felt can also be purchased with pictures and patterns. By choosing the appropriate felt for your pool table, you change a rooms appearance.

What things will you need to recover your pool table? All you need is a wrench and stapler. But before anything else, here are some questions for you to answer.

1. How can you determine your tables size?

Pool and billiards table are available in four sizes. Before you make an order, you have to determine the exact size of your old pool table. Make sure that you measure it between the tables bumpers. The 7 table is 39, 8 table is 44, 8 oversized is 46, and 9 table is 50.

2. Do you need to glue the felt?

Most of the felt offered in stores can be simply stapled over the edges but there are also some felts that are glued down to the edges to hold it in place.

3. Which side of the felt is faced up?

This is easy. Feel the felt and check for the manufacturers logo. The smoothest surface should be on top.

4. Which felt should you use?

This will greatly depend on your budget. You see, felt can be bought in different brands. If you're on a tight budget, buy Forstmann's Arcade. This is suited for commercial environments where there is always high traffic and is available in 8 different colors. Then there's Mali felt which is reasonably priced and is available in 16 shades. If you have sufficient budget for top-of-the-line felt, get Milliken's SuperPro.

Now you can recover your old pool table.
